Senior Physician General Internal Medicine (m/f/d)

The Spitalverbund Appenzell Ausserrhoden with the Akutspital Herisau and the Psychiatrischen Zentrum AR in Herisau ensures the expanded basic medical care for the population in the Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and is also the first point of contact for a large part of the population in the surrounding region. Both locations are relevant for care for the canton and beyond.

Spital Herisau in eastern Switzerland is part of the Spitalverbund Appenzell Ausserrhoden (SVAR) and has a Department of Internal Medicine, a Department of Surgery, a Women's Clinic, as well as a Clinic for Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine. The hospital also includes an interdisciplinary emergency station as well as a certified intensive care unit.
In the Department of Internal Medicine under the leadership of Herr Dr. med. Simon Ritter, we are looking for a Senior Physician (m/f/d) with a workload of 40-100% starting 01. July 2026 or by arrangement.

Your tasks

• Co-responsibility for high-quality diagnostics and treatment of internal medicine patients
• Professional and personnel leadership and further training of the assistant physicians
• Close and successful cooperation with the other specialist departments and the referrers
• Participation in the senior physician on-call service of Internal Medicine
• Support of the Chief Physician and the Leading Physicians in the management of the clinic

Your profile

• Specialist in General Internal Medicine (or shortly before completion)
• Interest in ultrasound medicine with the goal of acquiring the sonography certificate
• Active participation in projects and enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation
• Committed personality with high social competence
