Assistant Physician / Assistant Physician Anesthesiology

The Spitalverbund Appenzell Ausserrhoden with the Akutspital Herisau and the Psychiatrischen Zentrum AR in Herisau ensures the expanded basic medical care for the population in the Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and is also the first point of contact for a large part of the population in the surrounding region. Both locations are relevant for care for the Canton and beyond.

In the Department of Anesthesiology under the direction of Mr. Markus Bischoff, we are looking for an Assistant Physician, an Assistant Physician with a workload of 80-100% starting from 01.01.2027 or by arrangement.

Your tasks

• Our goal is to accompany you step by step on the way to the specialist title in Anesthesiology
• After careful induction, you will take on tasks independently - always under the supervision of an experienced specialist
• You conduct preoperative briefing conversations and stand by patients as a competent and empathetic contact person
• With respect and a sense of responsibility, you accompany your patients through the anesthesia and the entire perioperative phase
• Step by step, you will develop and deepen your practical skills in general and regional anesthesia
• Depending on qualification and progress, you will grow into expanded tasks, e.g., in operating room management including efficient, economical and above all safe processes

Your profile

• Curiosity and enthusiasm for our field of expertise with the goal of acquiring the specialist title in Anesthesiology
• Willingness to venture new things and accept challenges
• Professional, reliable and appreciative appearance as well as a corresponding communication style
• Initial experience as an Assistant Physician / Assistant Physician - whether in anesthesia or another field with direct patient contact - is an advantage
• You bring the ability for self-reflection, willingness to learn, team spirit and a responsible way of working
• Very good German skills in speaking and writing (native language or at least level C1)
• You have completed a degree in the Swiss state examination or a recognized medical degree from an EU/EFTA state
