The position is attached to the Diagnostic Department. This department, composed of nine medical services, has the mission of providing diagnostics, therapeutic products, therapeutic acts, and specialized clinical consultations, of high medical quality, in the shortest possible time and at an acceptable cost, to guide the management of female and male patients and contribute to therapeutic decisions and actions.

The genetic medicine service is a service that is both clinical, with consultations, and laboratory-based. It mainly deals with genetic and therapeutic counseling for patients after genetic analyses, notably using modern methods of cytogenetics and high-throughput sequencing. The services offered mainly ensure the diagnosis, prognosis, and prediction of hereditary diseases. The service also has research and teaching missions.

The Molecular Diagnostic and Genomics laboratory is an accredited laboratory that performs analyses using classical and modern molecular methods in the search for hereditary anomalies through the exploration of genes and the genome, including notably classical or high-throughput sequencing of exome and whole genome DNA.

The Cytogenomics laboratory (conventional, hematological, and molecular cytogenetics) is an accredited laboratory that performs analyses using QF-PCR methods, conventional karyotype, fluorescence in situ hybridization, molecular karyotype by DNA chip and array (SNP or CGH), and optical genome mapping (OGM) in the field of constitutional and onco-hematological diseases.
