Animal Care Technician (Laboratory Animals)

For our client, we are looking for a dedicated Animal Care Technician to support a modern laboratory animal facility.

Tasks

• Cleaning and disinfection of operating facilities and cage material.
• Care and maintenance of laboratory animals.
• Support of research groups during animal experiments (administration of medication, selection, marking, and euthanasia of animals).
• Compliance with hygiene regulations according to the hygiene concept.
• Information contact person for laboratory staff regarding the housing of rodents and the use of cage change stations.
• Working according to animal welfare legislation, internal quality guidelines (HSE, SOPs), and hygiene regulations.
• Preparation of laboratory animals for upcoming experiments according to instructions from the research groups.
• Transfer and housing of newly arriving animals in compliance with animal welfare guidelines.
• Daily animal and cage checks including documentation of temperatures, humidity, and special occurrences.
• Reporting sick or injured animals to the veterinary service.
• Performing euthanasias according to instructions.
• Internal animal and material transport using a company vehicle.
• Participation in continuing education and training.

Must Have

• One or more years of animal care training or comparable practical experience.
• Experience in handling small animals, ideally rodents.
• German and/or English.
• Readiness for weekend and holiday shifts in a 365-day operation.
• Readiness to work in a radioactive animal unit (corresponding training will be provided).

Advantageous

• LTK-1 module or comparable qualification.
• Experience in the breeding, housing, or care of laboratory animals.
• Experience in a research laboratory, animal husbandry, or a pharmaceutical environment.
• Category B driver's license.
